When is the best time to move?
The best time to move is when you need to move. There are seasons when moving can be trickier, such as in the winter
if you live in an area prone to snow or the summer when temperatures soar, but overall, there are no clearly defined “best” times to move. If you had to pick a season, consider moving in the spring
, so your children can start school in a new district in the fall, and you won’t have to deal with too many weather issues.
Are moving blankets flammable?
provide a lot of protection for your furniture, including protection against dust and scratches. However, they are flammable. Thus, they do not protect against fire should your moving truck be involved in an accident. Still, they are a helpful tool that is part of the professional moving package.
Should I hire a moving company or just rent a moving truck?
Renting a moving truck
may cost less than hiring a moving company, but the potential risk is much higher. A moving company is well-trained in proper moving techniques. With a moving company, you can be confident that your stuff will be handled well and have a better chance of it arriving at your destination in one piece. You’ll get the peace of mind that comes with insurance, which can add a layer of protection if a bit of accidental damage occurs. You also reduce the stress of your move because you won’t have to arrange help and get people on board to help you with the moving process. Your friends and family can sit back and watch as you enjoy your new home rather than getting roped into helping you with a tedious move.
Can I pack my clothes in a chest or dresser drawers?
Lightweight clothing — sweaters, shirts, blouses, etc. — may be left in the drawers. Do not fill drawers with heavy items such as books, table linens, or sheets, which can damage the piece of furniture during transit. Be careful NOT to leave fragile items, money, jewelry, watches, or other valuables in the drawers, as well as anything that might spill or leak.
Am I protected against loss or damage while my goods are in transit?
Speak to your moving consultant about these options.
How and when should I pay?
Some charges must be paid when we take possession of your shipment.
How long does it take to move?
This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment is traveling.
What is the binding estimate?
A binding estimate specifies in advance the precise cost of the move based on the services requested or deemed necessary at the time of the estimate.
When should I move?
If there is an option, most moving companies suggest that you move during the spring, fall, or winter. If you need to move during peak times such as summer, end of the month, and holidays, it is a good idea to schedule your move more than a month ahead of time.
Do I need an estimate?
We offer complimentary in-home estimates that are competitively and fairly priced.
