Black Tie Moving Proudly Supports The American Cancer Society

Over the course of their lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. Cancer has touched the lives of countless individuals around the world and is a leading cause of death globally, accounting for roughly 10 million deaths each year. 

The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. The organization is actively improving the lives of people with cancer and their families as the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. 

Founded in 1910, The American Cancer Society’s initial purpose was to raise public awareness about cancer in order for progress to be made in fighting the disease. Throughout the last century, the American Cancer Society has expanded its reach as an organization, working harder than ever to involve all sectors in its efforts to fight back against the disease.

Today, the American Cancer Society is a leader in the worldwide fight against cancer. Members of the organization work to save lives by offering preventative tips to help people live well and reduce their risk of cancer, and by conducting innovative medical research to understand the cause of various types of cancer as well as to find a cure for the disease. 

Thanks to the American Cancer Society’s hard work throughout the last century, the United States has seen a 29% drop in the overall cancer death rate. This drop equates to 2.9 million fewer cancer deaths between 1991 and 2017, and 500 fewer cancer deaths each day.

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge offers free housing for individuals undergoing cancer treatment and their families to give them a comfortable and private lodging option that feels a little more like home.
